Ph.D. positions in the Neurocognitive and Behavioral Development Laboratory at the University of Florida
The Neurocognitive and Behavioral Development Laboratory within the Department of Applied Physiology and Kinesiology at the University of Florida is seeking 1-2 Ph.D. graduate students to begin in fall 2022. The students will work on two NIH-funded research projects to examine the cerebellar and basal ganglia related neurodegeneration in middle-to-older aged adults with autism spectrum disorder. The research projects are conducted through the collaborative effort of the Department of Applied Physiology and Kinesiology (http://hhp.ufl.edu/about/departments/apk/), the UF Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (http://card.ufl.edu/), the Norman Fixel Institute for Neurological Diseases (https://fixel.ufhealth.org/), and the UF Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) Human Imaging Core (https://www.ctsi.ufl.edu/research/laboratory-services/human-imaging-core/). This graduate training opportunity provides ample clinical research experience focused on neuromotor control, cognitive neuroscience, and clinical psychology.
The position responsibilities include task administration (including cognitive, sensorimotor, clinical assessments, and MRI testing), data analysis, manuscript preparation, conference presentation, and planning future studies.
Candidates will have a BA or BS in Psychology, Neuroscience, Kinesiology, Health Science, or a related pre-health field. The candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, be strongly motivated, and work well in a team setting. Experience with computer programming is a plus (MATLAB or LabView). The candidate shall contact Dr. Zheng Wang (zheng.wang@ufl.edu) directly with a brief email and CV (including GPA and GRE scores) before submitting an application to the graduate school.
