Research Engineer / Lab Manager

We are seeking a highly motivated research engineer to join our team. In this role, you will support the research agenda of the Human Agility Laboratory and assist affiliate faculty and students to conduct research. Our research aims to understand the neuromechanical control of human walking with an emphasis on stability, maneuverability, and applications in gait rehabilitation following neuromuscular injury. You will have a primary role collecting and analyzing biomechanical data from human subjects’ experiments. You will prepare data (figures and text) for research dissemination and oversee the maintenance of all laboratory equipment. You will have a central role in ensuring that the day-to-day operations of the laboratory are successful and well organized. The position is full-time with funding for two years. The applicant must hold U.S. citizenship. Position can start as early as June 1, 2021. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

Responsibilities
- Assist with data collections for human-subject research studies
- Analyze, process, and summarize biomechanical data
- Write custom software scripts to analyze data
- Maintain the laboratory hardware (Qualisys Motion Capture System, AMTI force plates, Delsys EMG, Motek instrumented treadmill, etc.) and software
- Oversee and train undergraduate research interns
- Prepare, review, and submit manuscripts and abstracts for publication or presentation
- Work with our biostatistician to organize data sets and perform statistical analysis
- Assist with administrative responsibilities related to data management, scheduling, purchasing, and subject payments
- B.S. with 2 years + experience or M.S. in mechanical or biomedical engineering, kinesiology, or related field.
- Experience working in a motion analysis laboratory and proficient using biomechanical assessment tools to quantify human movement.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with research participants, team members, clinicians, and project collaborators.
- Strong writing ability to prepare and edit reports and manuscripts.
- Programming experience in Matlab.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting ability.
- Proficient in LabVIEW, Python, and R or SPSS
- Proficient using Qualisys Track Manager and Visual3D
- Experience working with clinical populations
