  • Funded postdoc position - Dept. of Physical Therapy - University of Florida

A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Federico Pozzi ( in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Florida. The successful candidate will also work closely with Dr. Sean Forbes ( on a collaborative project investigating whether magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy can provide non-invasive measures of vascularity and energetic status of the rotator cuff. This new position is funded by a research grant from the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases. The appointment is for two years (pending performance review after the first year).

Position Details: The successful candidate will perform clinical assessments of patients with rotator cuff tears, including ultrasound screening. This candidate will collaborate to develop the magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy data acquisition and analysis protocol. This position requires participation in experimental design, data collection, analysis and interpretation, preparation of oral and written scientific reports, preparation of materials for grant applications, and active involvement in other laboratory activities (laboratory meetings, journal clubs, seminars, conferences, etc.). It is expected that the candidate will develop an independent grant application targeting foundation or NIH K-type mechanisms.

Ability to work independently. Prior experience with human subject research. Magnetic resonance experience is an asset but not required.

Dr. Pozzi’s Lab: Our laboratory aims to identify mechanisms associated with musculoskeletal shoulder pain. This knowledge will help us designing novel treatment strategies that will maximize patients’ functional recovery. We promote diversity and research integrity and encourage lab members to pursue activities outside of their research. Our strengths derive from bringing multidisciplinary researchers together and using a collegial approach to solve scientific problems.

The University of Florida: Over the past 5-8 years, Florida invested over 1.5 billion dollars in advancing the University of Florida. As a result, UF is now the 6th ranked public university in America (US News & World Report). The UF Health Science Center brings the Shands Hospital, the Colleges of Medicine, Public Health and Health Professions, Veterinary Medicine & Pharmacy into proximity, fostering cross-college collaborations. Gainesville is a university town with a relatively low cost of living, a high quality of life, and a location ~2 hours from 3 major cities (Orlando, Tampa, and Jacksonville).

Additional Information: Interested applicants should submit the following items as part of their online applications: curriculum vitae, a statement of research interests & career goals, a letter of interest, and the names and contact information of 3 references.
