  • Postdoctoral Fellow wanted for human neuromodulation research at Bronx VA Medical Center, New York City

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow with experience in human neurophysiology to join our clinical research team at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center in New York City. The position is available now, and is funded for the next four years.

Starting Salary: Significantly above NIH level; negotiable depending on experience.

Applications are strongly encouraged from members of historically underrepresented groups, individuals representing diversity based on sexual orientation, and individuals representing diversity based on disability status.

Our research focuses on improving neural plasticity after spinal cord injury (SCI) and other conditions that affect the spinal cord. We have multiple human subject protocols that involve electrical and magnetic neuromodulation, electromyography, electroencephalography, gait training, virtual reality, and upper extremity training. (https://labs.icahn.mssm.edu/harellab/noam-y-harel/ )

The postdoctoral fellow must have experience in Electromyography AND one or more of the following techniques in human participants:
    • Spinal and peripheral nerve stimulation
    • Transcranial magnetic stimulation
    • Gait training
    • Working knowledge of Spike2, MATLAB, LabVIEW, SPSS, or R is desirable.

The fellow would be responsible for:
    • Conducting electrophysiological testing and overseeing gait training for a spinal stimulation clinical trial for individuals with chronic SCI (https://clinicaltrials.gov/NCT04807764 ).
    • Ensuring accurate data acquisition workflows.
    • Data analysis

We operate within a multidisciplinary Spinal Cord Damage Research Center that includes programs dedicated to multiple other aspects of spinal cord injury, including cardiovascular, metabolic/endocrine, gastrointestinal, thermoregulatory, pulmonary, and molecular consequences.

We are affiliated with the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. We collaborate closely with colleagues at other academic institutions in New York and around the country. There are numerous learning and mentorship opportunities here.

Apologies, but applicants must have authorization to work in the United States. We are unable to sponsor visas.
