    Full-Time Laboratory Technician: Movement Analysis Core at UNO Biomechanics
    This position is a part of UNO’s Movement Analysis Core (MOVAN) which is one of three cores within the Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) grant awarded to the Department of Biomechanics at the University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO). MOVAN provides research services, resources, education, and advisement related to the scientific analysis of human movement. The MOVAN Laboratory Technician will work at the Biomechanics Research Building (BRB), a 56,000 square foot space of shared laboratories, offices, and collaboration areas dedicated to translational biomedical research.

    Essential Functions
    The Laboratory Technician is a multidisciplinary role that reports to the MOVAN Director – Dr. David Kingston. This technician performs:

    Human subject research, data processing, and reporting.
    Laboratory maintenance.
    Troubleshooting equipment issues and support requests.
    Training of new laboratory staff and/or graduate students.

    Additional Duties
    The above list of duties is not exhaustive. The incumbent will be required to undertake tasks that are reasonably expected within the scope of the position. Examples of additional tasks include:
    Independently troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
    Creating processing software using MATLAB, Visual 3D, and/or D-Flow.
    Creating and updating standard operating procedure manuals.
    Inventory of consumables, equipment, and licensed software (Cortex, Visual 3D, LabView, etc.).
    Recruiting and scheduling experimental subjects.
    Other duties as assigned by the MOVAN Director.

    Required Qualifications
    Demonstrated experience with conventional motion capture, force plates, and processing software.
    Bachelor’s or MSc in Biomechanics, Neuroscience, Engineering, Computer Science, Kinesiology or related field.
    Speak and write fluently in English.

    Salary is $37,000-$55,500 USD as commensurate with qualifications. The current position is fully funded through 9/31/2024. Employment beyond this date is contingent on continued funding. The start date is as soon as possible. Applicants will be reviewed starting Sept. 14th 2021 until the position is filled.
