The Tampa Bay Rays Baseball organization is seeking an Applied Biomechanist to join the Performance Science team. We are looking for someone who is driven to improve player development and performance, readiness, resiliance, and enhance player well-being. This person will translate their education and expertise in biomechanics into actionable insights on-field and in the lab. This role provides the opportunity to integrate biomechanics and other performance science data sources that will ultimately elevate the performance and well-being of players across the entire Tampa Bay Rays organization.

Responsibilities:
- Collect, analyze, and report on data from on-field and lab-based biomechanical data sources for performance and injury risk assessment, performance monitoring, and athlete well-being assessment.
- Utilize integrated data sets including biomechanics with other performance science and in-game data sources to aid coaching, sports medicine, performance staff, and front office staff in the optimization of individualized player performance plans.
- Interact and communicate with a diverse team of individuals from performance science, sports medicine, coaching staff, R&D, scouting, and front office personnel.
- Implement other sport science and sports medicine research initiatives at the major league level.
- Perform internal research integrating a variety of performance science and injury data to optimize athlete performance and wellness.
- Assist in various other performance science, nutrition, and sports medicine focused duties across the organization, as necessary.
- A graduate-level degree or 3+ years of experience in biomechanics is required. Degree or course work in sports medicine, exercise physiology, athletic training, motor control, or other closely related field is desired.
- Demonstrated experience with biomechanics research and data collection processes. Examples include but are not limited to: markered or markerless motion capture, IMU’s, force plates, computer vision, and/or camera AI technology.
- Research and/or applied experience in an elite performance science role is strongly preferred.
- Ability to effectively interact and communicate with a diverse team of individuals across the organization including performance scientists, sports medicine, coaching staff, analytics staff, front office personnel, and scouting staff is crucial.
