Outstanding candidates with a PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering or related fields are invited to apply for a Postdoctoral Fellowship. The tenure will occur under the primary supervision of Pr. Karina Lebel at the Engineering Faculty of the University of Sherbrooke, with a co-supervision by Pr. Christian Duval at the Research Centre of the Montreal Geriatric Institute. The applicant will work in the lab at Centre de recherche sur le vieillissement, in Sherbrooke. Therefore, French speaking is an asset, but English is commonly used in the lab. The applicant must have excellent skills in time series analysis and machine learning.
The fellow will work with an interdisciplinary team as well as international collaborators to develop a wearable sensor platform for the assessment of symptoms and function of people living with Parkinson’s disease. This fellowship provides an opportunity to engage in research in the areas of activity detection, symptom estimation, Parkinson’s disease, and wearable technology.
We will provide funding for one year, starting as soon as possible. Candidates will be asked to apply for postdoctoral fellowships (bursaries) to provincial and federal funding agencies in mid-October 2021 for supplemental years. If the applicant is successful, the tenure can be extended for two more years. Candidates who are already allowed to study/work in Canada will be prioritized as the beginning of the tenure is imminent and visa application takes about 6 months.
Annual salary: 45 000$ CAD (+ benefits)
Candidates must submit their CV directly to Pr. Christian Duval at duval.christian@uqam.ca by September 30th 2021, or until the position is filled.
