  • PhD Positions in Wearable Robotics for Gait Rehabilitation and Mobility Augmentation

The Biomechatronics Laboratory in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Northern Arizona University has funded openings for doctoral students interested in pursuing a PhD in Bioengineering or Mechanical Engineering. Dissertation projects will support our research on wearable robotics for gait rehabilitation and mobility assistance in individuals with disabilities; areas of emphasis include mechanical design, intelligent control systems, and clinical interventions.

Successful applicants will receive a minimum of a $20k base stipend plus competitive summer salary, tuition remission, and health insurance. Outstanding students may be eligible to receive the competitive Presidential Fellowship, which will result in an additional $8,000/year plus $1,000/year for conference travel or research.

Successful applicants will have a master’s or bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or biomedical engineering. Prior biomechanics, design, and programming experience is desired.

Send your CV and research interests to Zach Lerner, PhD (Zachary.lerner@nau.edu). Funded campus visits are currently available.
