Job Summary:
The Physical Therapy Human Biomechanics Research Engineer is responsible for assisting Department of Physical Therapy Faculty in the Human Biomechanics and Physiology Laboratory (HBAPL) and Virtual Reality and Clinical Gait Analysis Laboratory (VRCGAL) in areas of research, education, and outreach. As such, this individual should be highly organized, extremely detail oriented, and be able to manage multiple tasks with ease. In this position, candidates will be expected to demonstrate sound judgment, professional etiquette, and exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills. In addition to having a "can-do" attitude and pleasant demeanor, candidates must have excellent communication skills that will allow them to interact with a diverse group of people.

• The abilities to assist in student education, to aid in scientific writing and grant development and to perform general computer troubleshooting and to regularly meet deadlines are highly desired.

Job Summary:

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Data collection and processing from instrumentation within the HBAPL and VRCGAL laboratories (i.e. 3D motion capture, force platforms, accelerometers, electromyographic sensors, pressure sensors, etc.)
- The ability to quality control and calibrate motion analysis systems
- The ability to assist laboratory personnel in technical procedures.
- Design and perform experiments and record data according to research protocol
- Independently reproduce, evaluate, research and improve techniques currently used and adapt new methods to existing procedures
- Aid in the maintenance of laboratory equipment and training of faculty
- Manage laboratory schedules and assist with leading laboratory meetings
- Assist with the development and maintenance of a repository of faculty and staff scholarship
- Masters degree within biomedical engineering, kinesiology or a biomechanics related field
- A working knowledge and desire to reliably collect, process and analyze biomechanical and neuromuscular data
- Experience with data reduction and processing with MATLAB and Visual3D software packages
