HJF is seeking a Research Assistant I to support the Orthopedics and Rehabilitation department, located at the Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) in San Antonio, Texas. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to BAMC. U.S. citizenship is required.
Performs research and/or development in collaboration with others for projects. Provides laboratory and technical support to senior technical and professional staff. Solves problems in carrying out research projects in a clinical or laboratory environment.
NOTE: As a U.S. Government contractor, all HJF employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by December 8, 2021. Proof of vaccination or an approved religious or medical accommodation will be required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: The Research Assistant should be familiar with policies regarding protection of human subjects. She/he must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and be attentive to detail. Must be a team player who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with team members on the local and national level.
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
Minimum Experience/ Training Requirements: Minimum 0-2 years of experience required.
Work Arrangement: 100% on-site.
Background/Security: U.S. citizenship required. Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Tier I investigation/Public Trust and a Common Access Card (CAC).

Responsibilities:
- Recruit, screen, evaluate, and enroll potential patient subjects for inclusion in an IRB approved protocol. (30%)
- Assist in data collection procedures to include management of data, video and picture files. (30%)
- Coordinate scheduling of study visits to include scheduling of subjects and arrangement of travel as needed. (20%)
- Creates, collects, disseminates, and maintains appropriate study data. (10%)
- Assists in the preparation of technical reports, summaries, and protocols. Creates and communicates detailed observations on experiments. (10%)
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.
