The Human Performance Lab(PI: Dr. Susan Sigward) in the Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy at the University of Southern California is looking for a postdoctoral researcher who is interested in expanding our understanding of the application of wearable technology in the analysis of movement and load profiles of the lower extremities in patients and athletes for the purpose of rehabilitation and training.
This academic-industry position is 1 year with possibly of extension. Desired start date January 31, 2022.
Position Details: The successful candidate will be expected to manage the primary academic-industry project, and lead ancillary projects including mentoring and manage graduate student workers. As the project lead the candidate will participate in development of experimental design; direct all aspects of data collection, analyses and dissemination; and, serve as the primary liaison with the industry partner.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: The competitive applicant will be a highly motivated research scientist with a history of research productivity (peer-reviewed publications and presentations), experience working with human research subjects, and a PhD in rehabilitation science, kinesiology, biomedical engineering, data science, sports science or a related field. Experience in human subjects testing and comfort recruiting and working with athletic populations, three dimensional biomechanical assessments, data management, statistical analysis, and scientific writing is required.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Exceptional candidates will possess one or more of the following: previous experience with athletic, team-based populations; experience with wearable technology, large data sets, desire to work with industry partners; experience with physical activity monitoring, and/or functional performance testing; and/or expertise or interest in learning machine learning and statistical modeling methods.
