Wake Forest School of Medicine - Biomedical Engineering Research Opportunity for Undergraduate Students
The Department of Biomedical Engineering and Center for Biomedical Informatics at Wake Forest School of Medicine invites current undergraduate students to apply for our Annual Biomedical Engineering and Informatics Summer Research Internship Program. Underrepresented minorities (URM) and students from colleges with limited research opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) are highly encouraged to apply. Our summer program will run for 10 weeks (May 29th – August 6th, 2022) and offer students opportunities to pursue research related to Imaging- and Mechanics-based projects on Accidental Cases of Trauma (IMPACT) and other biomedical engineering and informatics-based topics listed below.
Exciting research opportunities include the following biomedical engineering and informatics topics:
- Injury prediction model development
- Finite element modeling techniques applied to trauma
- Military, sports, and spaceflight safety
- Osteoporosis prevention
- Biomechanical characterization of injury mechanisms
- Diagnostics and therapies for cancer patients
- Biomedical informatics
- Development and use of machine learning based algorithms
- Medical device testing and prototyping
