2 Part-time or 1 full-time Research Assistant position(s) are available in Dr. Maria Knikou’s Klab4Recovery at the Department of Physical Therapy, College of Staten Island of The City University of New York. Our lab integrates neurophysiology and biomechanics to decipher the mechanisms of action of transcutaneous spinal cord stimulation and robotic gait training in people with spinal cord injury (SCI). Several research projects and randomized clinical trials, in collaboration with the Veterans Affairs in the Bronx are currently active, supported by the NICHD/NIH and the NYSDOH. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with research fellows from different disciplines and will have access to state-of-the-art laboratory housing equipment necessary for neurophysiology and biomechanics. The candidate(s) will be trained to use a robotic gait training device (Lokomat 6Pro, Hocoma), administer robotic gait treatment protocols for patients with spinal cord injury, and help during clinical neurophysiological experiments and clinical evaluations.
