The laboratory of Dr. Deanna Gates in the School of Kinesiology seeks to hire a full-time Lab Coordinator to work on Department of Defense funded projects. This lab uses quantitative and qualitative methods to assess prosthetic interventions. The successful candidate will be reliable, conscientious, organized, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. This person will also possess excellent interpersonal and leadership skills and demonstrate cultural competence and a commitment to working with individuals with disabilities. Administrative tasks (50%) include:
- Managing purchasing of lab supplies, coordinating purchases with research administrator and other administrative staff as needed
- Assisting with IRB applications
- Managing maintenance of lab equipment, coordinating with support staff as needed to fix equipment issues
- Conduct gait biomechanics research under the direction of the PI
- Preparing study materials, including recruitment materials and online surveys, for data collection
- Managing training of undergraduate research assistants
- Acting as study coordinator for research projects
- Overseeing data processing and management, including processing motion capture data
- Assisting in data analysis
- Supporting collaborations with outside researchers
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or Associate’s degree
- Experience coding, processing, and managing data using Excel and SPSS, Stata or R.
- 1+ year of experience in a research lab setting
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Knowledge of basic MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) applications
- Bachelors or Master’s degree in Kinesiology, Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Experience with writing and maintain IRB protocols and conducting human subjects research
- Proficient in motion analysis
- Proficient in Matlab or similar programming language and motion capture software packages
