The School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (HRS) in the College of Medicine at The Ohio State University (OSU) invite applications for a postdoctoral scholar position. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, 12-month (1.0 FTE) position that begins in March 2022 or when filled, with a possible renewal for a second year based on satisfactory performance.
This position is designed to be a career-building step for early-career scholars. We are eager to engage with candidates who desire to pursue a research career at the intersections of surgery, biomechanics, and physical therapy. We are interested in candidates trained in physical therapy or related fields such as surgery, rehabilitation medicine, and engineering and interested in clinical trials of physical rehabilitation.
The postdoctoral scholar will be primarily responsible for contributing to an NIH-funded clinical trial of physical therapy after hernia repair. This trial involves longitudinal measurement of clinical and functional outcomes, and the successful candidate must be capable of quickly becoming proficient at performing standard assessments. The postdoctoral scholar would be expected to collaborate with faculty members, researchers, and students on this research project, initiate new funded projects, and disseminate research results via conferences and academic publications. Opportunities exist to extend this line of research to in-vivo biomechanical analyses, computer simulation, health disparities, registry/electronic health record based investigations, implementation science, and other areas depending on the interest of the scholar.
Academic development is a central feature of this fellowship, and we will actively support the fellow’s professional growth through individual development plans, 1:1 mentoring, and professional skills workshops offered though the OSU Office of Postdoctoral Affairs. Primary mentors include Ajit M.W. Chaudhari, PhD, FACSM & Stephanie DiStasi, PT, PhD.
Successful candidates will likely have or be nearing completion of doctorates in health and rehabilitation sciences, kinesiology, engineering, rehabilitation medicine, or a related field. Highly desirable candidates will have a strong potential for a research career and demonstrated commitment toward improving diversity, equity, and inclusion in the academy.
To apply for this position, submit a cover letter, your curriculum vitae, research statement, a published or working research paper, and three current professional references through Workday. Applications will be reviewed until the position is filled. For full consideration, submit your application materials by February 14, 2021.
OSU is an EEO/AA employer. All qualified applicants will receive careful consideration for employment without regard to age, race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation or gender identity, national origin, disability status, or protected veteran status.
