Research Associate Position – Movement Analysis Core at the University of Nebraska Omaha
The University of Nebraska Omaha's Department of Biomechanics is home to the MOVCENTR which is supported through an NIH COBRE Award (P20GM109090). We are seeking a talented individual to join the Movement Analysis Core (MOVAN) to expand ongoing basic and clinical research activities while supporting the overall aims of the Core. The Research Associate will report to the Director of MOVAN (Dr. Daivd Kingston).
MOVAN Aims
1) to enable measurement of behavioral function and movement analysis
2) provide centralized clinical measurement and training, along with support for subject recruitment and research compliance
3) to mentor MOVCENTR investigators in the assessment and interpretation of behavioral function and movement analysis data
4) and to build MOVAN as a leading resource to the institution, the state, and the region for assessment of behavioral function and movement analysis, specifically for use in human movement variability research to treat and prevent motor-related disorders.
Essential Activities
· Protocols, data collection, and statistical analyses of clinical and healthy populations.
· Performing clinical gait analysis for children with neurodegenerative diseases.
· Administrative and regulatory policies related to research results and NIH reporting.
· Applying to significant federal grant funding.
· Developing new clinical assessment and reporting methods.
· Training of new staff and/or graduate students.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
· Creating processing software using MATLAB, Visual 3D, Python, and/or D-Flow.
· Creating and updating standard operating procedure manuals.
· Recruiting and scheduling experimental subjects.
· Independently troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
· Other duties as assigned by the MOVAN Director.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. degree in Biomechanics, Neuroscience, Engineering, Computer Science, Kinesiology, or related field.
