Post-doctoral fellowship: RCT Plantar Fasciitis
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our research team as a post-doctoral Fellow in the School of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Sciences, Morsani College of Medicine, University of South Florida. This individual will be joining an integrated clinical and research center with an overarching goal of keeping people active throughout their lifetime. Our research is aimed at understanding the relationships between lower extremity structure, mechanics and musculoskeletal injury. We are also interested in developing strategies and interventions that help to mitigate injury risk. Our research encompasses imaging and modeling, as well as experimental studies. The 6,000 sq foot, USF Motion Analysis Lab is being renovated with a new 8 camera motion analysis system and 2 inground moveable force plates. Additionally, it will house a high resolution ultrasound unit with elastography capabilities, IMU devices and an electromyography system.
The post-doctoral fellow will help to coordinate the USF-site of a newly awarded, dual-center NIH RCT aimed at a novel approach to the treatment of plantar fasciitis. Responsibilities will include participant recruitment, data collection, data processing/analysis and assisting with abstract and manuscript preparation. The post-doctoral fellow will also assist with other ongoing activities in the lab.
Training Opportunities
The post-doctoral fellow will have professional training opportunities in areas such as leadership and grant writing. They will participate in weekly research meetings, monthly journal clubs and quarterly seminars. They will also attend 1-2 professional meetings per year. The fellow will be encouraged and mentored to pursue independent funding to prepare them for their next step in their professional career.
Qualifications
Required
1. Completed PhD in biomechanics or a related field in the area of lower extremity mechanics
2. Experience with motion analysis
Preferred
1. Degree in Physical Therapy
2. Experience with database software
3. Programming experience
Behavioral Skills
The candidate must demonstrate superior organizational, time management, and communication skills, as well as intellectual independence and initiative. He/she will protect confidential and sensitive research data with integrity. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team is essential.
