We have an opening for a Ph.D. position in the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering program as a part of the Neuromuscular Biomechanics Laboratory (http://www.montana.edu/biomechanics/). The research opportunity involves the control of lower-limb prosthetics utilizing body-worn sensors integrated with Machine Learning techniques.
Applicants should have a background in mechanical design, controls, device prototyping, an interest in learning more about human physiology, and the ability to communicate effectively. The research will be heavily based on the use of engineering and biomechanics tools (Matlab, motion capture software, EMG, OpenSim). Previous experience or the enthusiasm to learn these systems is key.
