Doctoral fellowship in Biomedical Sciences (Ph.D.)
A research grant to carry out a thesis aimed at determining the effects of foot orthoses in the treatment of patients with chronic forefoot pain is available. The successful candidate will begin a Ph.D. in biomedical sciences under the supervision of Professor Gabriel Moisan at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR), PQ, Canada. This project will be carried out in the laboratories of the Research Group on Neuromusculoskeletal Disorders (GRAN) in partnership with Pr. Mickaël Begon (University of Montreal, Canada) and Pr. Katia Turcot (Laval University, Canada).
Project title: Development of optimal orthotic therapy in individuals with chronic metatarsalgia
Eligibility
• Hold a master's degree in biomechanics, kinesiology or equivalent
• Previous experience in analyzing human biomechanics is strongly desired
• Clinical or research experience with foot orthoses is considered an asset
• Programming skills (e.g., MATLAB and Python) is considered an asset
• Be eligible to enroll in the UQTR doctoral program in biomedical sciences
• Be eligible and apply for scholarships from provincial and national granting agencies (CIHR, FRQS and IRSST)
•French proficiency (if the candidate doesn’t speak French at the beginning, he/she will need to learn French because classes in the biomedical Sciences program are taught in French). The dissertation can be written in English.
Funding
• $20,000 scholarship for the first 18 months of the Ph.D. (possibility of renewal for the following 18 months depending on the availability of funds and the candidate's performance).
• Institutional scholarship of $7,000/year for 3 years
• Waiver of increased fees for international students
• Possibility to apply to other institutional and research group scholarships
