QUALIFICATIONS:
OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
An appointee at Lecturer below the bar will be expected principally to teach/supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students in Sport and Exercise Sciences generally and biomechanics in particular. They will publish in high impact, peer reviewed journals. It is expected that the post holder will add to the existing multi-disciplinary research team within PESS and contribute to further enhancing the international reputation for research in terms of research funding, publication, and national/international research collaborations within their areas of expertise. The appointee will contribute to writing and securing grants in support of their research agenda which should complement existing department and university research themes including Sports Biomechanics and Human Performance.

- A bachelors’ degree (level 8 NFQ) in Sport & Exercise Science or relevant cognate discipline.
- A doctoral degree (level 10 NFQ) in Sport & Exercise Biomechanics or relevant cognate discipline.

DESCRIPTION:
Essential Criteria
- A bachelors’ degree (level 8 NFQ) in Sport & Exercise Science or relevant cognate discipline.
- A doctoral degree (level 10 NFQ) in Sport & Exercise Biomechanics or relevant cognate discipline.
- Experience of teaching in third level education and potential for supervision of PhD students in Biomechanics and Sport & Exercise Science.
- An emerging track record of biomechanics related research activity and output (high quality peer-reviewed publications), and with potential to contribute to the research themes in Sport and Human Performance.
- Strong demonstrable knowledge and skills in kinematics and kinetics.
- Experience of application of biomechanics, e.g. to sports injury, wearable technology, high performance sport.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience in developing and delivering sport and exercise science programmes or related disciplines from a theoretical and applied perspective.
- An emerging record of attracting external research grant funding to support their research area.
- High level competence in experimental design and data analysis.
- Ability to contribute to applied aspects of Sport and Exercise Science.
- Experience in the use of digital technologies in enhancing student experience.
