  • Senior Scientist Position Biomechanics and Rehabilitation Engineering TU Wien, Austria

    The Institute of Engineering Design and Product Development, the Research Unit of Biomechanics and Rehabilitation Engineering TU Wien is now offering a position as senior scientist (f_m_d) for 40 hours/week, initially limited to 2 years, option to extend (permanent).

    Tasks:
    • Research and project activities on an international level in the core areas of the research unit: Biomechanics of the musculoskeletal system and the cardio- respiratory system and development of assistive devices
    • Management of the laboratory for biomechanics and rehabilitation engineering
    • Development and implementation of experimental setups in the new laboratory of the research unit, both for teaching and in research Supervision of students
    • Drafting of project proposals and acquisition of third-party funding Publication activity
    • Contribution to teaching and participation in exams Participation and organization of scientific events Participation in organizational and administrative tasks
    Your profile:
    • Completion of a doctorate in the area of mechanical engineering
    • In-depth knowledge in the field of biomechanics / rehabilitation engineering, in particular biomechanics of the musculoskeletal system and development of assistive devices.
    • Experience with Computer Aided Design (e.g. CATIA) and with development and implementation of experimental setups
    • Desirable: Experience with experimental methods in musculoskeletal biomechanics and with the biomechanical simulation software OpenSim Knowledge of scientific work and publication record
    • Experience in and willingness to work interdisciplinary at the interface of engineering and medicine Organizational and analytical skills as well as a structured way of working
    • Interest in and enjoyment of research and work with students Capacity for teamwork and problem-solving skills
    • Very good command of English, desirable also knowledge of German
