Postdoctoral Position available at the City University of New York (CUNY), New York, USA
A postdoctoral research fellow position is available in Dr. Maria Knikou’s Klab4Recovery at the Department of Physical Therapy, City University of New York/College of Staten Island. Our lab integrates neurophysiology and biomechanics to decipher the mechanisms of action of transcutaneous spinal cord stimulation and robotic gait training in people with spinal cord injury (SCI). Several research projects and randomized clinical trials, in collaboration with the Veterans Affairs in the Bronx are currently active and are supported by the NICHD/NIH and the NYSDOH/SCIRB. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with other post-doctoral research fellows and students and will have access to state-of-the-art laboratory housing equipment necessary for neurophysiology and biomechanics. It is expected that the fellow will be involved in all aspects of research performed at the lab and will be encouraged to pursue additional research areas of interest.
We invite applications from individuals with doctoral training in Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, Movement Sciences, Health and Rehabilitation Sciences or a related field. Highly motivated candidates with particular interest in understanding pathological movement control, pathological neuronal circuits, and functional neuroplasticity in people with Spinal Cord Injury are encouraged to apply. Previous experience in research with human subjects (patients or healthy controls) is highly desirable.
Dr. Maria Knikou’s laboratory (Klab4Recovery) is located at the College of Staten Island. College of Staten Island is one of the 12 senior colleges of the City University of New York, one of the largest public universities in the US.
