PhD position in development of a movement health assessment tool, University of Essex, UK

Join the University of Essex for a funded PhD position on "Validating a simple measure for assessing the health of an individual's gait". This is a collaborative PhD studentship between the School of Sport, Rehabilitation and Exercise Sciences (SRES) and the Department of Mathematical Sciences (MS), with the lead supervisor, Aleksandra Birn-Jeffery based in SRES.

This multi-disciplinary PhD studentship offers the chance to work across different fields to build multi-use models of gait health, Key is to ensure validity across different motor tasks and environments, and generate simple and applicable screening tools. The overall aims include:

- Determine how different methods of centre of mass extraction, across tasks, affect reduced order model parameters.
- Establish the applicability of a phone camera for measuring simple parameters to enable use across settings (2D vs 3D analysis).
- Build a model defining gait health across anthropometric features (i.e. age [life span], gender, weight, and fitness).
