The Biomechatronics and Intelligent Robotics Lab (https://haosu-robotics.github.io) in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department at North Carolina State University is seeking engineers, postdoc fellows and PhD students with Mechatronics, Control, Learning expertise for applications in humanoid robots, surgical robots, wearable robots, and soft robots. The lab conducts translational research, publish high-caliber papers, and offers entrepreneurship opportunities.
The selected candidate will join a multidisciplinary research team to study high-performance humanoid, surgical, and wearable robots in collaboration with several top medical schools in the United States. This is a great opportunity to pioneer research in a new generation of medical robot platforms to publish high-impact papers alongside several PIs who have expertise in mechatronics, computer vision, and machine learning. We won the Innovation Challenge of Wearable Robotics Association, Cisco Global Problem Solver Challenge, and Toyota Mobility Challenge Discovery Award. 5 lab members have found faculty positions in US, Netherlands, and China. ABB robotics and Intuitive Surgical (North Carolina) are on campus.
Applications (assembled as a single PDF file) should contain a CV, a list of publications, and copies of up to four scientific papers. Applications should be emailed to robotics.ncsu@gmail.com
Postdoc qualification (engineer position does not require PhD or MS degree):
- PhD in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, or related areas including
- Research experiences in one or more of the following areas: mechatronic design, power electronics, actuator, embedded system, control theory, machine learning, reinforcement learning
- Research experiences in one of the following areas: humanoid robots, wearable robots, surgical robots, soft robots.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
PhD students can be admitted in 2023 spring or 2023 fall.
PhD students will receive tuition scholarship and stipend support. Students are required to have TOEFL (or IELTS or Duolingo), GRE is not required.
