    A fully funded PhD position is available in the School of Kinesiology at Western University in the area of Musculoskeletal Biomechanics to begin in Fall 2023 under the direction of Dr. Derek Pamukoff. The PhD student will work as part of an exciting team evaluating biomechanical and neuromuscular contributors to joint function and performance in patients with traumatic knee injury and osteoarthritis and in runners.

    Graduate students at Western will benefit from the recently renovated Thames Hall. Our new state-of-the-art Biomechanics laboratory features 16 Qualisys Hybrid cameras capable of marker-based and marker-less motion capture, 3 AMTI force plates, Bertec split-belt force-instrumented treadmill, Delsys Trigno EMG unit, HUMAC Norm Dynamometer, and GE Logiq E Ultrasound imaging unit.

    Transdisciplinary research and training opportunities exist within the Western Bone and Joint Institute and Collaborative Specialization in Musculoskeletal Health Research.

    Required qualifications include:
    • Completion of Thesis-based Master’s degree in Kinesiology/Biomechanics (or relevant discipline)
    • GPA of 3.3/4.0 or higher
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in English

    Desired qualifications
    • Experience with motion capture analyses
    • Experience or familiarity with programming (MATLAB, LabVIEW, R etc.)
    • Experience with human subjects research
