    Position Summary:

    The Giants Medical Performance Fellow opportunity is designed to help aspiring candidates to take the next step in their career in the medical and performance science space. On a daily basis the The Fellow will support player health and development initiatives. We are looking for someone who is hungry, enjoys applied research and is comfortable working with and analyzing large data sets.

    Position Responsibilities:
    • Conduct applied research and analysis as directed, creating and using internal datasets and web based research.
    • Assist in data entry, data quality control, and report generation for distribution to stakeholders.
    • Perform in-depth analytic assignments and be able to provide concise written reports and visualizations.
    • Provide medical and performance team support for events throughout the Baseball calendar, including:

    Off-season camps and education events

    Spring training

    In-season Major League and Minor League team, player and staff needs

    Preparation for the Rule 4 Draft and Free Agency
    • Opportunities to work with staff across baseball operations.

    Skills and Qualifications:
    • Undergraduate degree or higher in a medical, performance science or related area of focus. Open to graduate students or medical residents interested in spending a year working in baseball.
    • Experience with SQL, R or Python and working with large data sets.
    • Understanding of fundamental statistics and probability theory.
    • Experience in machine learning is a plus.
    • 1-2 years of sports experience is preferred and experience in baseball or softball is a plus.
    • Excellent administrative and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
    • Ability to handle confidential matters and information with discretion and diplomacy.
    • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal required.
    • Excellent work ethic with strong initiative and desire to take on tasks and projects.
    • Maintain a high level of professionalism and personal conduct in your work and interactions with staff/players.
    • Contribute to team culture with a positive attitude.
    • When necessary, have the ability to work non-traditional hours in non-traditional settings, including weeknights and weekends.
    • Bonus: Advanced Spanish speaking, conversational or writing skills. (Please distinguish if Native/Fluent speaker)
