    POSITION SUMMARY:

    This full-time faculty position will support and integrate with the Lincoln Chair of Chiropractic & Biomechanics Research with a highly educated and trained personnel capable of highly productive research output and grant acquisition. The faculty member will write and submit original grant applications relevant to the research program as an independent PI (typically with the Lincoln Chair as Co-I), perform research design, research data collection, data post-processing, manuscript composition, mentoring of students, and take a leadership role and serve as a liaison in the implementation of all research within the biomechanics, chiropractic, and clinical trials research emphasis. The candidate must be willing to contribute to scientific applications of chiropractic, rehabilitation, injury and disease prevention, and spinal biomechanics. The candidate should have a strong ability to present findings to a wide variety of groups including scientists, clinicians, and lay personnel. Collaborations are encouraged with military, government, clinicians, and academia, and especially with complementary and integrative health clinical institutions. The faculty position will allow for academic appointment and promotion. It is expected that the research personnel will have ~50% of their salary covered via grant funding by three years.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Faculty will be expected to submit competitive grant applications, write and submit high impact research manuscripts, post-process collected data, perform statistical analysis, data collection, study design, maintain current training required by the university, write and submit IRB protocols. The faculty will also regularly attend national / international conferences to present research related to exercise intervention, chiropractic, biomechanics, motor control, and prevention of spinal conditions / neurodegeneration.

    Research faculty will assist the Lincoln Chair in duties of administration, mentorship, and networking of the Chiropractic Division and assist in development of programs that allow for influx of clinicians of integrative health backgrounds to seek research training and expertise. Faculty will represent the research enterprise of the Lincoln Chair of Biomechanics & Chiropractic Research to the chiropractic profession, specifically to the Florida Chiropractic Association, through regular presentation of research findings. Research faculty will serve as a liaison to the integrative collaborations within the Departments of Neurosurgery & Brain Repair and Neurology. Other collaborations are encouraged as relevant to the research directives / needs.

    Mentorship of undergraduates, graduates, postdoctoral fellows, and laboratory volunteers will be expected. Potential to serve on graduate dissertation / thesis committees is anticipated.

    Potential to instruct in the Morsani College of Medicine or other associated colleges up to 0.25 FTE, but is not required.

    Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university.
    Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities.
    Responsible for academic advising and related activities.
    May represent the university, college/school, or department.

    POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

    MINIMUM:

    Doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization in biomechanics, motor control, exercise physiology, neuroscience, or related field with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service.

    Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor.

    PREFERRED:

    Preferred 4+ years of experience as a Research Assistant Professor or equivalent. Experience with administration of clinical trials research preferred. The candidate must be willing to contribute to scientific applications of chiropractic, rehabilitation, injury and disease prevention, and spinal biomechanics. The candidate should have a strong ability to present findings to a wide variety of groups including scientists, clinicians, and lay personnel.
