Postdoctoral Scholar Position
Area: Biomechanics
Duration: One Year, renewable

The Human Performance Laboratory in the Faculty of Kinesiology at the University of Calgary is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow in Biomechanics.
Job Description:
This position provides biomechanical, technical, engineering and mathematical support to a variety of ongoing industry and academic research projects. In addition, a key aspect of this role is to provide advice and mentorship to students, technicians, and interns. The incumbent will be working on a variety of research projects at the same time with multiple complex issues which will require good time management, the ability to adapt to continuous changes and shifting in priorities and the ability to learn new technologies and data analysis methods as needed.
Work will primarily be carried out on industry projects consisting of biomechanical data collection, analysis, and report/manuscript submission. There is a strong focus on the sporting goods industry. The projects typically involve the use of human subjects, but are sometimes restricted to dealing with mechanical systems. There is a strong mathematical component to the work as data analysis involving vector based and time series analysis are a pre-requisite for this position. This is a full time position that may occasionally require working evenings and/or weekends.
Specifically to this position, expertise in neural networks, pattern recognition, and machine learning will be required/preferred.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a PhD with specialization in Biomechanics, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or related fields.
