The School of Kinesiology at Louisiana State University announces the availability of a full-time (9 month non-tenure track) assistant/associate professor of professional practice. The primary duties for this position include teaching undergraduate courses in human movement science. The successful candidate will have a background that supports involvement in allied health professions and will have a commitment to scholarly teaching excellence and service to the profession as well as strong interpersonal communication skills. The appointment will be effective August 2023.
Assistant Rank Qualifications: Earned doctorate or clinical doctorate in Kinesiology or a related field by August 2023, with teaching experience in core subjects in Kinesiology, notably human anatomy and/or biomechanics, evidence of ability to advise undergraduate students, strong communication skills with a desire to mentor undergraduate students, involvement of service within a profession and/or higher education, and some form of professional experience in a Kinesiology related field.
Associate Rank Qualifications: Earned doctorate or clinical doctorate in Kinesiology or a related field with six or more years teaching experience in core subjects in Kinesiology, notably human anatomy and/or biomechanics, strong communications skills, as well as experience in mentoring undergraduate students, supervising internships, and some form of professional experience in a Kinesiology related field. Preferred candidates will have prior experience in administrative roles at the program level, demonstrated experience collaborating with community partners, experience working with diverse student populations, and a strong track record of service within a profession and/or higher education
Responsibilities: (1) Teaching undergraduate courses related to human anatomy, biomechanics and the study of human movement, (2) advise and mentor students in the human movement concentration (3) service on School, College, University, and Profession-based committees as appropriate, (4) pursue scholarship and collaborative activities with service- based initiatives. The faculty member will contribute to the vision and mission to the School of Kinesiology.
