  • Postdoctoral Research Associate in Rehabilitation, Biomechanics, or Related Areas (Atlanta, Georgia, USA)

The Fall Prevention and Rehabilitation Group in the Department of Kinesiology and Health at Georgia State University (Atlanta, Georgia) invites applications for an immediate opening of a postdoctoral research associate. We are looking for motivated researchers with a strong interest in biomechanics, rehabilitation science, physical therapy, occupational therapy, neuroscience, neural control of movement, or related areas.

Our group focuses on preventing falls in healthy aging individuals and people with movement disorders. In particular, we are interested in seeking the mechanisms of falls from the neuro-biomechanical perspective, developing evidence- and community-based interventions for reducing falls, and finding ways to lower the body injuries from fall impact. Our long-term goal is to mitigate the detrimental effects of falls in various populations. For more information about our research work, please visit https://fyang.gsucreate.org.

This postdoc will take a lead role in advancing an NIH-funded project focusing on preventing falls in people with Alzheimer’s disease. There will also be opportunities to participate in other ongoing studies in the lab and mentor graduate/undergraduate students.

    Primary Responsibilities:
    • Works with the research team to successfully execute the specific aims of ongoing research studies.
    • Assists with recruiting and screening participants.
    • Helps with data collection and processing, including interactions with human subjects to obtain biomechanics and patient-reported outcomes measures.
    • Publishes research findings through presentations, abstracts, and manuscripts.
    • Assists with grants and IRB documents preparation and reporting.
    • Mentors junior lab members as part of the research team.
    • Completes other duties as assigned.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Proficiency in MATLAB programming.
    • Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
    • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Experience in computational modeling.
Applicants should send the following documents in a single PDF file to Dr. Feng Yang (fyang@gsu.edu):
    • A cover letter briefing their research activities, interests, and career goals
    • CV
    • A list of three references

Please contact Dr. Yang (fyang@gsu.edu, 404-413-8357) if you have any questions about this position.
