The Departments of Paleontology and Mechanical Engineering and Complex Mechanisms at Poitiers University (FRANCE) invite applications for a postdoctoral research fellow position. The 16 months position is now open and should be filled by March/April 2023.
The postdoctoral fellow will work on an ANR funded project (http://homtech.prd.fr/objective-4/) to investigate the biomechanical strategies used by quadrupedal primates for arboreal locomotion. Ultimately, we seek at understanding the physical demands associated with locomotion and stone tool making in relationship with the evolution of human morphology.
Primary responsibilities will include: collecting kinematic and morphometric data on chimpanzees (at La Vallée des Singes - https://www.la-vallee-des-singes.fr/...que-in-france/), data analysis, kinematic/musculoskeletal modeling, presentation and publication of results, student mentoring and community outreach. There will also be opportunities to contribute to the service and teaching mission of the Departments.
Requirements
The ideal candidate has:
Application must be processed online (https://emploi.cnrs.fr/Offres/CDD/UM...t.aspx?lang=EN) by January 25, 2023.
Interested candidates are encouraged to reach us beforehand, sending their CV to Mathieu Domalain (mathieu.domalain@univ-poitiers.fr) and Guillaume Daver (guillaume.daver@univ-poitiers.fr).
