JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Graduate Assistant – Exercise Science
School: School of Health and Human Performance
Basic Function and Responsibility: Graduate assistants are assigned responsibilities that may include teaching laboratory sections for exercise physiology or anatomical/mechanical kinesiology, Health Promotion activities courses, Physical Well Being, working with Northern Michigan University's adult fitness program (MoveUP), and/or assisting professors with exercise physiology or anatomical/mechanical assessment in Athletic Coaching Education/Health and Physical Education programs.
Rate: $10,800 stipend plus tuition waiver for up to 16 credit hours per academic year, student activity fee waiver, recreation pass, and laptop computer.
Hours: Up to 20 hours per week with assigned responsibilities. The position begins with the start of the Fall 2023 Semester and continues for 2 academic years. GA positions follow the same schedule as faculty.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Admission to the NMU College of Graduate Studies
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 9 semester hours of relevant course work (human anatomy and physiology, exercise physiology, kinesiology/biomechanics, physics or nutrition)
- Overall G.P.A of 3.0 or higher
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous teaching or research experience
- Current First-Aid, CPR, and AED certification from a nationally recognized first-aid provider such as the American Red Cross, or American Heart Association.
