The Department of Public Health and Exercise Science at Appalachian State University has an opening for a student interested in pursuing an MS degree in exercise science while doing research in the area of human motion analysis.

Project: Validation and Implementation of a Cost-Effective, User-Friendly Human Motion Tracking Framework

Specific aims:
  • Validate the use of a smartphone-based motion capture framework (against passive marker multi-camera motion analysis system).
  • Develop easy-to-use interfaces for different practitioners. These interfaces will be designed with input from coaches and clinicians.
Preferred qualifications/skills:
  • Undergraduate degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Biomechanical/Biomedical Engineering, or related field
  • Experience using human motion capture systems
  • Coding experience (Python/Matlab)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
