  • Postdoc in mechanobiology

The Laboratory of Ocular Biomechanics at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking candidates for a postdoc on mechanobiology. We are particularly interested in applicants with experience on mechanobiology of astrocytes, axons or nuclei. Our goal is to understand the effects of mechanical insult on cell function and dysfunction, with emphasis on cell-extracellular matrix interactions and remodeling. Computational or experimental, both are welcome.

Applicants must have a strong track record of publications, and a PhD in bioengineering, biology, neuroscience or a related field. Most important is to have relevant experience.

Experience in ophthalmology is not required.

The incumbent will work within a collaborative team of engineers, clinicians and basic scientists, with high productivity and a strong record of extramural funding from national and international sources. There will be the opportunity for the incumbent to develop his/her own scientific ideas in the rich environment of the University of Pittsburgh, the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, the McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine and the Fox Center for Vision Restoration.

To apply send a CV and two representative publications to Ian Sigal, PhD: ian@OcularBiomechanics.com.
