    Job Description:

    The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at UI Health in Chicago is seeking a highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral Research Associate in the field of Computational Biomechanics. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research focused on studying the musculoskeletal system, specifically the shoulder, hand, spine, and knee. The successful candidate will utilize ANSYS and Abaqus software for computational modeling and simulation, experimental validation methods, and cadaver testing to advance our understanding of musculoskeletal biomechanics.

    Responsibilities:
    • Develop and implement sophisticated computational models of the shoulder, hand, spine, and knee using ANSYS and Abaqus software.
    • Conduct simulations and analyses to investigate the biomechanical behavior of musculoskeletal structures under various loading conditions.
    • Collaborate with orthopaedic surgeons, engineers, and other researchers to design and execute research projects.
    • Validate computational models by comparing simulation results with experimental data obtained through biomechanical testing, including cadaver testing.
    • Coordinate and assist in the planning and execution of cadaver experiments, ensuring adherence to ethical and safety guidelines.
    • Analyze and interpret research data, prepare scientific reports, and contribute to scientific publications and presentations.
    • Contribute to the development of innovative computational methodologies and techniques in the field of biomechanics.
    • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in computational biomechanics and musculoskeletal research.
    Qualifications:
    • Ph.D. in Biomechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
    • Strong expertise in computational modeling and simulation techniques, with experience using ANSYS and Abaqus software.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of musculoskeletal biomechanics and familiarity with the shoulder, hand, spine, and knee.
    • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, or C++ for model development and data analysis.
    • Experience with experimental biomechanical testing, including cadaver testing.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
    • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present research findings effectively.
