  • Biomechanical Specialist at the UNC/NC State Joint BME Department (Raleigh, NC, US)

    The Neuromuscular Rehabilitation Engineering Laboratory (NREL) within the UNC/NC State Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering invites applications for a Biomechanics Specialist to help evaluation of assistive devices used on patients with lower limb disabilities. Required Qualifications
    • A MS degree in Kinesiology, Biomedical Engineering, or Sport Science with focus on biomechanical analysis or a BS degree with more than 2 years hands-on experience
    • Hands on experience in motion capture (marker based), biomechanical data analysis, and statistics.
    • Comfortable to work in a supporting role or a leading role in a team environment
    • Ability to effectively interact and communicate with a diverse team of individuals from across the organization including researchers, medicine personnel, students, and patients.
    Additional Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience with patients with disabilities
    • Experience with Visual3d and metabolic measurement
    • Programming skills (MATLAB, C++, LabVIEW etc.)

    Job Responsibility
    • Assist daily operations of the lab, to include providing direct assistance to lab personnel in the preparation, testing, operation, and maintenance of all laboratory equipment.
    • Play both the leading and supporting roles in biomechanical analysis efforts, including motion capture and data analysis.
    • Report results, and recommendations to enable interpretation and application for improved product design
    • Assist with supervision, training, and mentoring of interns and students
    • Engage other lab duties, such as patient recruitment and IRB protocol development
