    Description: The candidate will perform a variety of technical, research, and clerical duties to support the needs of the Sports Performance and Motion Analysis Lab at the Fight for Children Sports Medicine Center. In collaboration with the program manager, biomechanists, engineers, physical therapists, kinesiologists, athletic trainers, orthopedic surgeons, physicians, and other members of the sports medicine center team, the candidate will support the programming and daily tasks of the lab. The candidate will be supervised by a senior staff member. In this position the individual will assist in lab tasks including but not limited to assisting with lab equipment, motion capture marker set-up, data collection procedures, development of data analysis pipelines and codes, data processing, and report generation. Previous experience with the following tools and equipment is highly desirable: Motion Capture technologies and softwares, Visual3D, MATLAB, RedCAP, MS office applications, EMR software. The candidate will also perform administrative duties such as data entry, filing, recordkeeping, and creating research flyers, posters, and presentations.

    Qualifications
    Minimum Education:
    • Bachelor's Degree (Required) in a related field preferably Biomechanics, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Kinesiology, or Movement Science
    • Master's Degree (Preferred) in a related field preferably Biomechanics, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Kinesiology, or Movement Science
    Minimum Work Experience: 1-2 years experience in motion capture, movement science, biomechanics and/or in a clinical gait analysis laboratory setting is required. (Required)

    Required Skills/Knowledge:
    • Research experience in a motion capture/analysis or gait lab is highly desired.
    • Interest in working with pediatric and adolescent athletes for sport specific motion analysis assessments
    • Interest in working with pediatric and adolescent patients with various neuromuscular diagnoses for clinical gait analysis
    • Ability and desire to work as an integral member of a multidisciplinary health-care team, as well as interact with participants undergoing motion analysis.
    • Interest in providing technical support for clinical operations and research related data collection/analysis.
    • Proficiency in analytical and programming languages related to movement analysis, including motion capture and gait equipment software, MATLAB, Visual3D, statistical analysis, and the MS office applications.

    Functional Accountabilities
    Professional Practice
    • Ensures quality collection, processing, archival and retrieval of data while providing various support to the patients, families, clients and staff.
    • Explains procedures to the patients, clients and families as needed.
    • Collects electromyographic, kinetic, kinematic, and foot pressure data
    • Assists in organization of care around each patient's diagnosis which may require a multidisciplinary approach.
    • Reduce delays by ensuring equipment is ready for each phase of the testing process.
    • Processes the patient/client data in a timely manner.
    • Assists in performing initial interpretation of patient/client data; reviews patient/client data with program manager, physicians, and lab team members to determine recommendations.
    • Preparation of final report incorporating information from all sources.
    • Assists with research projects. Compiles research data and reports results to contribute to conference abstracts, podium and poster presentations, and/or scientific journal submissions.
    • Troubleshoots computer and equipment problems and patient/client data for errors in collection and processing prior to review of data.
    • Confers with lab program manager regarding equipment or data problems when necessary.
    • Maintains the storage of patient and client data.
    Maintain Safe Work Area:
    • Maintain work area in a safe, clean and orderly manner.
    • Maintenance of all hardware and an in-depth knowledge of the software. Act as a member of the internal sports medicine center's emergency response team.
    • Updates and develops software as needed to improve data processing.
