PhD position: Design and realization of a sensor system for the acquisition of sign language and the implementation AI algorithms for the automatic recognition of the signs

A PhD position with grant is promoted by the University of Tuscia (Viterbo - ITALY) within a European project on topics related to measurements in the field of #movementanalysis and #biomechanics.
The main topic will focus on the realization of a sensor system for the acquisition of #signlanguage and the implementation of #artificialintelligence algorithms for the automatic recognition of the signs and the successive translation.

Candidates must upload a research proposal covering four main topics: Inclusion, Measurements, Artificial Intelligence, and Virtual Reality. Specifically, research proposal will be focused on: (i) a sensor system network for the digital acquisition of hand movements, posture, facial gestures of subjects using the Italian sign language (LIS), (ii) the utilization of acquired data to feed Artificial Intelligence algorithms for the recognition and automatic translation of LIS, and (iii) the implementation of avatars able to interact with deaf people in the public administration.

- An individual with a background in one or more of: Engineering, Informatics, Biomechanics, Movement Analysis instrumentation
- Experience with Matlab or Labview software
- Experience with motion analysis
