The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, AR is seeking a Research Assistant II to join the research team in a human motion capture lab. The qualified candidate will have experience collecting, processing, and analyzing biomechanics data, including motion capture, electromyography, force platforms, isokinetic testing, and more. Experience with Matlab and Visual3D are preferred.
Summary of Job Duties: The Research Assistant II position with the UAMS College of Medicine Department of Orthopedics provides support for the Department of Orthopedic Surgery in a human motion testing laboratory at our Aldersgate Biomechanics Lab. Duties will include but are not limited to experimental design and testing, data analysis, and manuscript and grant preparation of biomechanical experiments for orthopedics-related projects.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in exercise science, biology, chemistry, or related field plus four (4) years of research experience OR Master's degree in exercise science, biology, chemistry, or related field plus two (2) years of research experience required.

Responsibilities:
- Discuss hypotheses and objectives with the supervisor, other laboratory personnel, and clinicians.
- Determine key variables and primary and alternative methodologies.
- Ensure the application of scientific rigor and reproducibility for interpretation, including proper statistical validation.
- Serve to achieve broad research goals, including dissemination of findings.
- Perform analysis of motion, force plate, and EMG data using Visual3D, Matlab, and Excel. Includes statistical analyses, data presentation and interpretation.
- Write manuscripts, assemble data and other figures, and submit for publication.
- Prepare posters and slide presentations for scientific conferences and local seminars.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
