  • Postdoctoral Researcher in Natural Environment Biomechanics and/or Medical Imaging | Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh, PA, USA)

A Postdoctoral Researcher position is available in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) to study natural environment biomechanics in patients with early-stage knee osteoarthritis and ones recovering from knee surgery, including ACL reconstruction and total knee replacement. This postdoc will be advised by Eni Halilaj and work collaboratively with CMU students and clinicians. We are looking for candidates with background in one or more of the following areas and desire to expand in at least one new area as part of their postdoctoral training:
    • experimental biomechanics
    • biomechanical modeling
    • wearable sensing
    • machine learning
    • computer vision
    • medical imaging
The candidate should have a doctoral degree in engineering, computer science, or kinesiology. This is a one-year position, with the opportunity for renewal.

Interested applicants should email Eni Halilaj (ehalilaj@andrew.cmu.edu) with a single PDF file that includes (1) a short cover letter with research interests and long-term career aspirations, (2) CV, (3) relevant representative publications, and (4) the names of two letter writers. Please use the subject line “Postdoctoral Researcher Application” to ensure receipt. While the start date is flexible, applications received by October 15, 2023 will receive priority.
