The Yang laboratories within the Department of Bioengineering and Carle Foundation Hospital are focused on investigating neural mechanisms underlying movement impairments post-stroke and developing targeted therapeutical interventions to facilitate motor recovery. This interdisciplinary research integrates neural engineering approaches and human subject experiments, based on multi-modal brain imaging, non-invasive brain stimulation, electrophysiology signals, robotic devices, and data sciences.

Eligible candidates must have obtained a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree or a DPT/Ph.D. degree with a research interest in NeuroRehabilitation within 10 years of the start date of the position. The ideal candidate should have proper training and skill in doing PT clinical research assessments in participants who have movement disabilities which may include but are not limited to Fugl-Meyer Upper Extremity Assessment, Nottingham Sensory Assessment for Stereognosis and Erasmus MC Modifications to the (revised) Nottingham Sensory Assessment (EmNSA), Modified Ashworth Scale, and Box and Blocks Test. Candidates who have experience and/or strong interest in learning and utilizing neurorehabilitation techniques such as Biodex system, EEG, MRI, non-invasive brain stimulation, or peripheral nerve stimulation will receive priority consideration for this position. Candidates with experience designing and performing studies involving clinical populations or NIH-defined clinical trials will also receive priority consideration for this position.
