    ORGANIZATION SUMMARY:

    POSITION SUMMARY:
    A postdoctoral fellow position is available in a well-funded, multidisciplinary environment at the Department of Neurosurgery/Neuroscience
    at the University of South Florida in Dr. Nathan Schilaty’s Neuromusculoskeletal Biomechanics and Chiropractic (NeuBaC) research laboratory. The laboratory is interested in pursuit of research that will both prevent and improve rehabilitation for neuromusculoskeletal disorders including low back pain, neck pain, concussion, and neurodegenerative conditions. The current research projects emphasize non-surgical spinal decompression, advanced image processing (MRI and ultrasound), motor control, and cortical processing of cognitive/biomechanical tasks.

    DUTIES:
    We are looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic, hardworking, detail-oriented, and collaborative applicants who can efficiently work in a fast-paced environment. High level of independence, the ability to think critically and good writing skills are expected. Fellows will be expected to perform experiments, acquire and analyze data, integrate the current literature into experimental design and manuscripts, apply for research funding, and attend and present data at departmental and national scientific meetings. The post-doc is also expected to mentor graduate students and develop independent research trajectories within the laboratory to launch an independent research career. Dr. Schilaty’s lab and the University of South Florida provides excellent training and collaborative environment for research.


    POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
    MINIMUM:
    • Doctoral degree from an accredited institution and appropriate experience and training within a selected area of specialization.
    • Specialized training with a clinical degree, advanced image processing, MATLAB or LabVIEW programming, and machine learning is preferred.
    • Applicant must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Postdoctoral Fellow.
