Clinical Neuromuscular Adaptation laboratory (CNAlab) in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) is looking for PhD students. This PhD program is a joint program between NJIT and Rutgers Health Science Campus in Newark. Please visit the following link to learn more about this program: https://biomedical.njit.edu/academic...e/doctoral.php.
In the CNAlab, we are seeking to understand the underlying neuromuscular mechanisms of muscle weakness and of reduced motor function in older adults and in individuals with stroke or spinal cord injury, using biomechanical tools, ultrasound imaging techniques, and computer simulation approaches. We are also interested in developing a non-invasive, practical way to quantify neuromuscular properties and motor performance and in facilitating neuromuscular adaptations, using wearable sensors, machine/deep learning models, electrical stimulation approaches, and robotic devices. Please visit our website for more details: https://sites.google.com/view/cnalab.
Highly motivated students with a strong background in electrical/mechanical engineering, computer science, neuromuscular physiology, athlete training, and/or physical therapy are encouraged to apply: https://forms.gle/TksJDDaar9uxxAsW7.
Sincerely,
