    The Department of Health and Exercise Science in the Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Oklahoma, USA, invites applicants for a 9-month, open rank (Assistant/Associate/Full Professor) tenure-track position in Human Exercise Physiology. The appointment will begin in Fall 2024.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    1. PhD or equivalent in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Integrative Physiology, or related field.

    2. A focused research agenda using a physiologically-based, mechanistic approach to studying metabolism, endocrine function, cardiovascular, neuromuscular, and/or pulmonary physiology in humans, although all areas will be considered

    3. Record of published research or demonstrated research potential.

    4. Record of securing external funding (for Associate and Professor rank) or strong potential to secure funding (Assistant rank)

    5. Ability to teach and develop both undergraduate and graduate courses related to Exercise Physiology.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    1. A research agenda that focuses on human health as it relates to obesity, cardiometabolic disorders such as diabetes, cancer, and other age-related disorders.

    2. Previous experience or future goals to apply research to better understand and address health issues affecting underserved populations such as, but not limited to, Native Americans and African Americans.

    3. Post-doctoral research experience

    4. Demonstrated experience teaching undergraduate and graduate (MS/PhD) Exercise Physiology courses such as Exercise Physiology Lab, Exercise Testing and Prescription Endocrinology, Metabolism, as well as Exercise and Aging.

    5. Experience mentoring and incorporating students (undergraduate, masters and PhD) into a research program.

    6. Demonstrated experience collaborating with diverse researchers employing physiological and behavior approaches to address issues of public health across the lifespan.​

    Responsibilities

    1. Conduct research and publish in peer-reviewed journals

    2. Seek external funding

    3. Teach undergraduate and graduate courses. The expected teaching load of this position will be 2 courses per semester; typically, 1 undergraduate and 1 graduate.

    4. Perform service to the profession, university, college, and department

    Workload Distribution

    Assistant Professor – 45% research, 45% teaching, 10% service

    Associate/Full Professor – 40% research, 40% teaching, 20% service
