Dr. Dylan Kobsar of the Department of Kinesiology and the School of Biomedical Engineering at McMaster University is inviting applications for a PhD position. This opportunity is ideal for students passionate about advancing the field of biomechanics and human movement, with a focus on improving clinical outcomes and technologies.
Research Focus:
The successful candidate will explore the biomechanics of musculoskeletal disorders, such as osteoarthritis, and their accessibility to clinicians and health professionals. The project involves studying the influence of biomechanics on surgical decision-making for total joint arthroplasty, using advanced markerless motion capture and wearable technology. This work will take place in a translational research setting, where the student will be an integral part of a diverse research and clinical team, contributing to ongoing projects, while also having the freedom and support to initiate and lead projects that align with the overarching goals of the lab.

Qualifications:
- Experience in biomechanics, human movement, wearable technology, and/or data science.
- Programming skills (Python/MATLAB/R) are preferable.
- A bachelor’s and master's degree in engineering (biomedical, electrical, mechanical), kinesiology, or exercise science.
- Minimum GPA: A-.
- Strong communication skills and a track record of scientific dissemination.
