Funded Ph.D. assistantship starting in Summer or Fall 2024 in the Exercise Science program area of the Department of Health, Human Performance, and Recreation at the University of Arkansas. This position is under the direction of Dr. Abigail Schmitt and centers around the neuromechanics of gait. The laboratory is part of the Exercise Science Research Center and is outfitted with a 16-camera Vicon motion capture system, embedded force plates, with various available accelerometers, IMUs, wearable eye trackers, and EMG. The lab also has a 22' Zenometrics walkway with ProtoKinetics Movement Analysis Software. The Center also has an 8-camera Theia markerless motion capture system and various other related equipment.
Applicants should have a master’s degree in a field related to human movement (exercise science, kinesiology, physical therapy, athletic training, biomedical engineering, or similar) and those with clinical experience are encouraged to apply. Prior research experience with human subjects, gait biomechanics, or musculoskeletal disorders, and MATLAB programming are highly desirable. This position is funded through a research or teaching assistantship and includes a full 4 years of funding.
