Areas of interest include energy consumption and cumulative musculoskeletal load assessment in real-world settings (e.g. sport or rehabilitation), foot biomechanics, muscle and tendon mechanics, and adaptations to exercise.
The successful candidates will have the opportunity to:
- Conduct both experimental and computational studies on human movement using state-of-the-art facilities and equipment (medical imaging, markerless motion capture etc)
- Develop and validate novel methods and models for measuring human movement mechanics and energetics
- Collaborate with leading researchers and industry and/or clinical partners in the fields of biomechanics, computer vision, exercise science, podiatry, medical imaging and rehabilitation sciences
- Publish high-impact papers and present at international conferences
- Receive a generous stipend and travel support for the duration of the PhD

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:
- Have a bachelor's degree with honours or master's degree in exercise science (kinesiology), rehabilitation sciences, podiatry, biomedical engineering, computer science or a related discipline with excellent academic results
- Have a strong background and interest in human movement or muscle biomechanics and energetics
- Have good programming skills and experience with biomechanical software platforms
- Have excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Meet the English language proficiency requirements of Queensland University of Technology
