The Universite de technologie de Compiegne (UTC) is offering a PhD position to work on the Facial Motion Learning and Rehabilitation for Facial Palsy using Deep Reinforcement Learning and Finite Element Modelling. The PhD project will be conducted under the supervision of Professor Marie-Christine Ho Ba Tho (Biomechanics and Bioengineering lab) and Professor Tien-Tuan Dao (Biomechanics of Soft Tissues Lab at Centrale Lille Institut).
Selected candidate will investigate the coupling of the complex patient-specific finite element modelling with deep reinforcement learning to learn and rehabilitate the facial expression of facial palsy patients. This PhD opens new avenues for a better understanding of facial muscle coordination and muscle activation patterns to target a specific motion for facial palsy patients.
How to apply: Please send to Professor Marie-Christine Ho Ba Tho (hobatho@utc.fr) and Professor Tien-Tuan Dao (tien-tuan.dao@centralelille.fr) before 10th May 2024: your CV, Master transcript of records, recommendation letter(s) and a statement of your research interest.
