Master's degree in an appropriate biological/health science with experience in human subjects’ research or an equivalent combination of education and experience in human subjects’ research is required. Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic and/or practical knowledge in the conduct of biomechanical/neuroscience/health science research is required. Considerable knowledge of biomechanical laboratory methods, materials, and equipment is required including familiarity with MatLab, Excel.
Salary:

Researcher-1 responsibilities (90%)
Biomechanics lab management and data collection
- Serves as technical expert for human biophysical testing (i.e., biomechanical and electroencephalographic (EEG)) testing in the research lab;
- performs a variety of research techniques and procedures to detect and record high quality biophysical signal data including kinematic, kinetic, electromyographic (EMG), EEG, and related functional testing. Independently conducts data acquisition as instructed by PI.
- manages and coordinates acquisition, storage, and transfer of data as needed to maintain high biophysical data quality, approved data organization, and protected health information (PHI) security per HIPAA guidelines;
- facilitate entry of relevant human subjects’ data to the Research Electronic Database Capture (REDCap) platform
- oversees and maintains accurate records of laboratory activities;
- assists with delivering exercise and music and dance-based interventions to participants with a focus on acquiring data and ensuring participant safety during intervention delivery sessions;
- manages and coordinates biomechanical and EEG equipment supplies, maintenance, and repair independently;
- oversees and manages storage and usage of biomechanical and EEG equipment and supplies independently;
- manages and coordinates purchase of new equipment as directed by PI;
- develops and updates lab standard operating protocols (SOPs) as needed;
- provides supervision of learners, post-docs, and technicians in the use of biophysical signal acquisition equipment;
- contributes to manuscript preparation and submissions in terms of reporting biomechanical data collection and analysis protocols as well as drafting Methods sections;
- serves as a key liaison for interactions with intra- and inter- university research collaborators such as statisticians and project co-investigators with expertise in complimentary fields to biomechanics (oncology, geriatrics)
- research representative in clinical spaces, research spaces, recruitment events, scientific conferences: business attire (may include scrubs for medical environments);
- ensure the study is conducted in accordance with the study protocol guidelines policies and requirements of OSU and the study sponsoring agency
- meet with PI and team weekly to update regarding progress
Human subjects recruitment and scheduling (10%)
- recruits and schedules individuals with cancer and/or neural injury in human research studies; may include traveling to patient homes for screening or testing; coordinate screening potential subjects over the phone and in person; providing encouragement and motivation to study participants to maintain compliance with study protocol and attendance at all research visits
- schedule and coordinate participant, examiner, and exam facility schedules to ensure that research participants are seen efficiently and according to follow-up schedules
