  • Doctoral/postdoctoral positions investigating functional neuroanatomy of motor learning using non-invasive stimulation (TMS, HD-tDCS) at Penn State

The Movement Neuroscience and the Neurorehabilitation laboratories at Penn State University, under the direction of Dr. Bob Sainburg is seeking a doctoral student/postdoctoral scholar with skills in Non-Invasive Brain Stimulation Techniques (NIBS: TMS, HD-tDCS) to study the functional neuroanatomy of motor learning and adaptation.

The Movement Neuroscience lab is in the Penn State College of Health and Human Development, department of Kinesiology, while the Neurorehabilitation Laboratory is in the department of Neurology, Penn State College of Medicine. Both labs are run by Dr. Sainburg. This post-doc will work on projects funded by NIH and NSF, with an emphasis on human motor learning and adaptation, using NIBS techniques in conjunction with upper extremity tasks requiring adaptation and skill learning. The position requires a background in Kinematic and Kinetic analysis, Neuroscience, EMG analysis, Non-Invasive Brain Stimulation, and computer programming, as required to design and modify experimental protocols and data analyses. The applicant will be expected to be involved in all stages of experimental design and analysis, as well as scientific reporting, and will receive mentorship in these skills as well as grantsmanship. See https://sites.psu.edu/sainburglaboratory/ for more information about the laboratories.
